A Midsummer Night's Dream with The Young Shakespeare Company

 

The Young Shakespeare Company visits our school

 

 

 

 

The Young Shakespeare Company came into perform a Shakespeare play and to help us understand it. They came to perform A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It started by them choosing some people to play some of the characters: Hippolyta (Daria) Theseus (Uways) Egeus (Patrick) Hermia (Stembile) Lysander (Billy) Helena (Mafsud) and Demetrius (Daniel T.)

 

  So they started the play by saying that Hippolyta was getting married to Duke Theseus and his daughter -  Hermia, was to get married to Demetrius but secretly Hermia loved Lysander and Lysander loved Hermia (so they ran away!)
 

Later, they went on to talk about Peter Quince, Nick Bottom and Francis Flute, who were Athenian workmen, and the work they were doing on a play script.

 

They would perform it later for Duke Theseus’s wedding. Flute and Bottom both thought they were really good actors (but they weren’t) Peter had just written a new play about the tragedy of Thisbe, Pyramus and the wall that separated them.
 

All in all it was a fantastic performance. One of the best parts was where Billy and Daniel had to say

 

“Oh Helena , oh Helena , oh Helena ........ BABY!!!

 

They acted it really well and so did the other actors. I gave it 8.5 out of 10!

 

It was fantastic!
