Y3/Y4 EUROPEAN DAY

Salsa Dancing

As I walked into the hall with excitement, some music started. At first we warmed up. Next the dance teacher taught us some steps. Suddenly me and Chloe started to laugh as the song reminded me of Spanish music. I was really surprised when you could choose your own partner. Then we learnt Salsa dancing together and on our own. It was really difficult to remember the steps. Later we had to swap partners. Me and Hollie had to spin round all the time.

Our European day

As I gently walked into Mrs Bagnoli’s room I felt happy because I could smell Italian food and it looked delicious. There was vinegar and olive oil ciabatta and biscotti and cheese.

Italy is famous for pasta and pizza. The Colosseum is the largest outdoor theatre of ancient Roman.

Italy is shaped like a boot kicking a football.

The capital city of Italy is Rome .

Italy

As I quietly tiptoed into signora Bagnoli’s classroom, she said “Ciao!”

First we did some work about Italy then we did some food tasting. There was balsamic vinegar, olive oil, Italian Ratafias(biscuits). I loved the Italian Ratafias so I love Italy the best!

I learnt a fact. Do you know that Italy got its name from the Ancient Romans.

Europe Day

Gently, as I tiptoed into the hall I heard some music playing.

We were going to do some salsa dancing. The fast music was like African singing. Next the dance teacher showed us some dances like………..

First we went side-to-side and then to the other side backwards and then forwards and then spin.

Then it was break.

After break we went to Mrs Bagnoli’s class. She said ”Ciao” as her class was Italian. We tried bread with vinegar and oil which was so yummy.

European Day

On Wednesday 12th March we had a European Day in lower school and this is what we did . . .

Spain -As we walked into the hall our salsa teacher (Miss Gardener) said welcome in a friendly manner.

Left to right” she shouted at the top of her voice.  Then we got in partners and next we started to SALSA.  Our first dance was a lot of fun.  First we moved left to right then we shouted ‘OLAY’.  That was our first lesson of the day.

Italy-Then we flew off to Italy and Mrs Bagnoli was waiting for us to arrive at the airport.  She told us that Italians were mad about food.  Some of the foods we tried were called Ciabatta bread, Parmesan cheese, Biscotti biscuits, Balsamic vinegar and olive oil.  Rome has one of the Seven Wonders of the World , which is called the Colosseum. That was the end of Italy .

Holland- Miss Booth was waiting for us so we could start her lesson on Holland .  First we drew some clogs and some tulips.   We also tried on some Dutch clothes and then we tried some Edam and Gouda cheeses and some very nice stroop waffle.  That was our Holland lesson.

France-Then we landed in La France ( France ).  Bastille day is a festival, which French people celebrate on July 14th.  On July 14th 1789 a castle, that was converted into a prison, was destroyed by the poor French people to get revenge on the rich people.  All the rich people’s heads were chopped off.

Some of the foods they have are Brie cheese, Croissants and Baguettes.

Our last lesson of the day was in Germany -The food there is nice in a weird way. Here are some of the foods, smoked cheese, pickled cabbage and apple strudel.  We liked them all except the pickled cabbage!

I thought that the European Day was fabulous and we learnt a lot about the different countries.  Our favourite country was Italy and we would definitely want to take part in it again!

European Day

Walking up to the hall, we were really excited because we were going to take part in some famous Spanish salsa dancing. First we learnt the basic steps in a huge circle holding each other hands. Miss Gardener shouted, “Left, Right, Left, Right”.  Then we got into partners and began to salsa!

Next we flew to Italia ( Italy ) where we tasted Italian foods like, Ciabatta bread, biscotti, and Parmesan cheese also Italy is famous for pizza and pasta. Did you know that in Italy wine is served for every meal except breakfast? We dipped our Ciabatta bread in olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Then we flew to Holland , where they are famous for making clogs. Also they cut off the heads of dead tulips so they can grow new tulips. In Holland , we tasted 2 types of cheeses called Edam and Gouda . We thought that both cheeses were cheesetasic!! Holland is also known as the Netherlands .

Thirdly, we travelled to La France where we tasted some cheese called Brie. Brie was very runny and sticky. We tasted some Croissant, which was delicious, and finally we tried some French bread called Baguette. Every 14th July, in France , they have a party which is called Bastille Day where the poor got revenge on the rich back in 1789. France is also famous for The Eiffel tower, which is 324m tall.

Lastly, we flew to Germany , where we tasted Pickled Cabbage, which is really nice, also there was some smoky cheese, which was spicy but nice, and finally there was some apple strudel, which was really delicious.

We really enjoyed European Day and so did everyone in our class!
